Museo dell'Arte Vetraria Altarese
The Istituto per lo Studio del Vetro e dell’Arte Vetraria was born in 1982 as an official body aimed at the maintenance and improvement of the glass objects recovered by the private museum which was established inside the Società Artistico – Vetraria. The objects of the collection were purchased by the town council in 1978 and submitted to the new-born Institute in order to make this important artistic patrimony enjoyable to the public. After being shown in various premises, since 2004 the collection has found its definitive location in Villa Rosa, a splendid Art Nouveau building equipped with all the services necessary to the public. Today the non-profit Foundation is in charge of the management of the Museo dell’ Arte Vetraria Altarese and pursues the following aims: to promote the historical and scientific study of glass, to relaunch the artistic hand-made glass production in all its aspects and to support the professional formation of the youth.
